Janmashtami Special Gulab Jamun

diginmeal.com wishes you all a happy & prosperous "Shri Krishna Janmashtami". As the "Nand Lala" loved to eat all the (Makhan)butter & all the sweet treats, we thought to prepare a sweet treat for the special day as well. So let's make some Super soft and super tasty "Gulab Jamun"

Ingredients for "The Jamun":

1 cup of milk powder

¼ cup Maida

1 tsp oil or ghee

A pinch of salt

1/2 tsp baking soda

1-2 tbsp fresh curd

For garnishing

Chopped pistachios or almonds

For Sugar Syrup

2 cups of water

1/4 cups sugar

3 -4 green cardamom powdered

A pinch of saffron

Instructions :

To make the syrup: First heat the pan. Add the water in it then add sugar. Once the sugar starts melting, add some cardamom powder & saffron in it. Then gently bring to boil and continue to stir. Make a thick syrup and turn off the gas.

For the dough: Take a big bowl and add 1 cup milk powder, maida, baking soda, a pinch of salt, ghee and fresh curd or yogurt in it. Then gently mix everything and knead it with very softly. We don't want a tough dough, it should be smooth. Then apply some oil on your hands to make small balls from the dough. Then cover the balls with a muslin cloth or kitchen towel. Keep it rest for 5 minutes. Meanwhile,

Keep a pan on medium flame and heat up the oil for deep frying. Once the oil heats up low down the flame a little and adds a prepared ball. If the ball is rising in the oil & doesn't crack then it's good to go for 2-3 more balls into the fryer. Don't put too many gulab jamun balls in the fryer, as it may crack. Now fry the balls until it gets an even brown tone. Once the gulab jamun balls are done, add them directly to the sugar syrup. And leave for at least one hour to absorb the syrup well. That's all.. now the delicious sweet treat is ready to be served. Take it in a dessert bowl and sprinkle some chopped pistachios and almonds on top of it.
